Lena Is Victorious At Tournoi International Du Pas-de-Calais
This week, the
St. Petersburg team, led by veteran Tatiana Nabieva, travelled to France to
compete at the Tournoi International Du Pas-de-Calais. There, young
junior- and my favorite "hope" for next quad- Elena Eremina,
absolutely conquered the meet winning multiple golds and medalling in every EF.
The scores she achieved can be much better (I noted her beam d-score was marked down from earlier this year) but the execution marks were generally very good,
excepting of course those that counted a fall. I am so in love with this junior
because she has power, amplitude, speed, artistry, flexibility, and
agility...and it shows on every apparatus. She placed first on vault, bars, and
beam, and had the highest AA score despite a fall on the uneven bars. This
competition ends a very consistent year for her; there were a few missteps and
certainly at times she could've done more to make a final or medal in one, but
her placement on so many prominent intl assignments, stable performances, and healthy medal haul, have really resonated with me and I'm sure she'll be
even better next year.
Here are the complete results for the AA, compiled kindly by lakekrugloye.tumblr.

And here is a
reminder of her beautiful floor routine. I'll certainly miss it when she
changes her music. Congrats, Lena!
