What's Up In Russia?
It's been a while since I blogged but it's the holiday's and January will be the quietest month in a jam gym packed year, so I'm taking my respite while I can. I hope things have been going well for you and your family. A few developments in RG and AG happened last week so let's get into it:
From February 3 to 9, the RG Russian Junior Championships will be held in Penza. Margarita Mamun and Aleksandra Soldatova will do an exhibition to show their 4 new routines!
Yana Kudryavtseva's new routines are all ready. "Her hoop routine is gonna be about Russia (music & choreography). It has the power and energy she will need for the 2016 Olympic season" said Elena Karpushenko, her coach. "The process is going very well. Yana will train the whole month of January in Novogorsk, 8 hours a day" to speed up the rehabilitation process from her winter surgery. For the first time, Yana apparently won't compete at Russian Championships, but at GP Moscow in late February.
Amina Zaripova : "Margarita Mamun now has all her routines made. Regarding Aleksandra Soldatova, it is a bit harder: we have made them all, but we are not sure about all the elements, and one of her routines is extremely hard. She feels it but she needs to work on it a lot. Moreover she is a teenager, she is susceptible, she can be fed up very rapidly. So the process is not the same, trainings are a bit different. Irina Viner let her perform to music she has always wanted to perform on, so Sasha is very happy about it. About Margarita Mamun, it it now the time to choose the color of apparatus, the leotards, etc... she loves that step, she is very artistic. And of course very sensitive. Thanks to her new routine you will have the possibility to see her be more 'dangerous'." Interesting that Soldatova is struggling to master her routines, after I conjectured that her new choreographer was a horrible choice and might not give Sasha routines that minimize her noticeable weaknesses. I really hope she gets it together, but at the same time I don't want her in Rio over Rita and Yana.
