European Championships for Rhythmic Gymnastics

This year's Euros will take place in Holon, Israel from the 17-19th. Team Russia has already arrived. Hometown girl, Neta Rivkin (ISR), will not participate because of injury and is setting her sights on peaking in Rio. This is unfortunate for her since the home scoring she'd likely receive in Holon would go a long way in dictating how judges receive her in two months at the Olympics (not that I mind since I like her lol). It's tough to speak about a sport in such a vulgar way, but the simple truth is strategy and corruption are intertwined in RG. Home scoring the bigger names leads to more overscoring and that's a great momentum boost when it happens consistently before a big competition like World's or Olympics. I think some RG fans can think of  a few names benefiting right now. Moving along, the live scoring will be covered by UEG (I will add a link when available), the schedule is here, and the startlist is here. The livestream provided by UEG is here. Look, the Russian senior Group has new "Brazilian" leos!
Here's a good strategy everyone knows: be as aesthetically pleasing to the home nation
as possible. Pick Brazilian music, dance Brazilian samba, wear Brazilian colors.

Russia...ohmygod, are you effing serious? What -what is happening here? Why is this
happening? ...how? M.Y. E.Y.E.S. My EYESSSS! FOLIAGE IS GROWING

FROM HER NECK, SHOULDER...wait... AND HER BEHIND!?!

  1. I wouldn't consider it vulgar to say that at all! I'm far more amused by people who act like similar things don't happen in AG because we have an "objective" scoring system. Albeit way less blatant, but there is definitely strategy involved and every country gives their star players a scoring bump - look no further than the judging of the US Olympic "locks" in comparison to girls with no shot at the team during the US Classic. Anyway it is still more overt in RG. Also I think that feather leo made me go temporarily blind, what happened to the nice colorful blue one they had before? Viner...

    1. Great points, anon. I don't follow USA very closely but it's clear to me Raisman is getting on another Olympic team despite not being better than first year seniors, Smith or Hernandez, who both share her strong events. She is overscored, they are more reasonably scored, so the illusionary gap remains advantageous to Alexandra. I even see the British have been successfully lobbying their brand through the FIG with the presentation of Downie getting the Elegance Award ( a popularity contest if ever there was one), and the high scores Fragapane receives with big errors or falls now...BBC is investing a lot into the sport and the British have volunteered to host numerous competitions over the coming years so they have to be rewarded somehow. I mean, even Russia benefits from some corruption, so it is what it is, i guess.
