RUSSIA IS NOT DEAD

Out of 28 possible medals the men secured 13 of them; 6 of those medals were gold. The women took 12 medals out of 20 possible; 6 of those medals were gold. With a better qualifications, both teams would have been able to compete for even more in the finals. The team medal is the most prestigious in gymnastics because any program might get lucky to have one exceptionally talented individual, but to medal as a team symbolizes a working sports infrastructure in your country. 4 team medals were up for grabs and Russia took gold in THREE of them, losing the last gold by just under four tenths. This is dynamic. This is historic. This is what Russia can do when they are not behaving as their own worst enemy. Not everything went as I might have liked, but no competition can, and I have few regrets as a spectator. It's been a wonderful championships during which one country dominated the continent. Congratulations Team Russia! Now we evaluate, plan, and charge into Rio!!!
