Upset that we're only in four finals (soon to be three, Seda's already in 7th on bb). The girls let us down in that respect. And to think, people were saying the team should focus on individual medals back when a team one looked unlikely.
Russia's final standing is 174.620, less than seven tenths behind China who were also very meh in their subdivision. I think Russia has the upperhand in it because the Chinese are dealing with illness and that unfortunate circumstance means their best might be what we already witnessed. Russia has room to climb.

Um Seda got a 15.133 but I'm not sure how or why

The judges at Worlds said that the unique vantage point they were sitting at made them see errors better. Whatever is finally obscuring those errors is working for Dasha because they've finally given her almost a 9 in execution woohoo

Melka showed great handstands for the first half of the routine but they get very dodgy in the second half. Lovely deep inbars. Great dismount. Minus the legs splitting apart on the komova II this was terrific. 15.1. If that gets a 8.7e-score, I'm ready for Aliya.

Just checked and a 14.899 was the 8th qualifier last year on vault. Masha will probably make it, USA only has one vaulter, Brazil has two, oh shit Canada has three, and GB! Am I forgetting anyone? Dipa? Videaux? Moreno! Who else? I'm paranoid, write below if you know anyone who might knock Masha out of VT.

15.366 for the amanar gives her a 15.049 average, I'm so stressed i can't even look up what the cutoff was for World's vault last year. I think she'll make it but her amanar was good and judges still pummeled her.

Seda is off the side on her run-up but gets centered as she hits the table. Janky legs on the entry and a big step on landing bring her to a 14.733 and I don't think she'll make EF's. The way things are going Russia will only have three finals by the end of this, not counting team or AA.
Aliya sticks her DTY and it looks cleaner than ever. Shame she doesn't have even a minor second vault. 15.166
Starting us off on vault is Melka with a clean enough DTY, just some foot crossing as the only big form issue. Stuckish as well. 14.933
Giulia nails the rudi. 15.6. I miss her second vault but she looks happy with her coach. 14.933 average with a 15.2 for the second vault. Sure, let's have Chuso's ugly vaults score ahead of that, I'm not bitter at all.

The girls look stressed. The coaches look depressed & frustrated. And then there's the doctor who's seen it all and knows it could be worse.

Daria is not here to save us a second time. She's oob and falls (more like slips) on her opening 2.5 to full earning a gasp from the audience. Russia is murdered on FX. Floaty triple tho. I like parts of her music but she has zero energy in selling it. Valentina is in the stands steaming I'm sure.
Aliya hits her opening pass but does not get to do the double spin out of her mustafina. Botched her front full after the 1.5. It wasn't really botched but her leg form wasn't good, like she knew she was coming in low off the 1.5 and started tucking her knees to stand up the pass. Gomez! 14.066, no EF for her
At the end of last year's World's, Andrei said he didn't feel too confident if any of the juniors would make the Olympic team because 'Russia's new seniors do not do well at big events.' He was referencing, of course, Anastasia Grishina. I hope parallels of that don't come true for Melka (but then again, who else would Russia have sent to rio?)

Melka finally understands that she's Russian and is not allowed to do nice things on beam; wobbles after each skill, almost off on the front tuck...and that's it, she grabs the beam. Head between her knees on the side somi. Huge steps back on dismount. I am so disappointed. She's been excellent all year and all the mainstream Russian media (and people) will know of her are her performances at the Olympics. She is capable of so much more but bad luck struck before the Games even began. 13.266. So Spiri's going up on beam.

Could be so much worse . China is looking vulnerable for silver. The girls should rise to the occasion and claim silver for Russia. That would be a big achievement. Please Seda don't fall in finals !
