Our Junior Men's Team Has Pluck

Comments on VK suggest they're upset with the results.
A natural reaction. I look forward to getting to know them better.
This team did absolutely amazing and blew my expectations! First let me acquaint you with some facts: 1) everyone on this team is really green in terms experience 2) they didn't have the highest combined difficulty 3) no member is a 'super junior' choosing to stay in the junior division to pick up easy medals.

Yet through all that they had four stunning opening rotations where everything was done with great presentation and precision. They were leading the predicted frontrunners by 6 points! Then, well- then they suffered terrible falls on Russia's worst event (even for the seniors), high bar. This, combined with their low difficulty, meant several depressing scores in the 12's. Even though they ultimately lost gold, it felt as much that they'd won a celebratory silver because they were always the underdogs. Even when they were leading, everything had to be perfect in order to make up for mediocre D-scores. It just goes to show that every team has to enter the arena with the mindset focused on the job they're supposed to do, not what others might do, because you never know how far clean hit routines can take you. For a fresh team like this to compete against a British team featuring members vying for the Rio Olympics, they really stole the show. AND Andrei Makolov qualified to every. single. final. Aw yeah! Davai boys. Well done. Let's hope you inspired the senior ranks to show similar fight and courage.
